Week 7 Term 3 2020

Dear parents,

I hope you all enjoyed the extra long OLC weekend - it was a lovely break and gave us all time to recuperate after a big week including the sports carnival and open classrooms afternoon.

Assembly

This Friday is the big one! Our grand performance!  The assembly will start at 2.10pm but if any parents could pop in just before at about 1.45 straight after lunch to help us get dressed that would be wonderful.  Please send your child's costume to school in a clearly marked plastic bag/swimming bag so we can get changed into it straight after lunch.  Students will need to wear their normal sports uniform for the first part of the day.  I can't wait to see them all dressed up as their dads.  It was interesting to hear what clothes they wanted to wear and many were very keen to adorn some facial hair.  A few were a bit worried what they would do if their dad was bald or thinning - obviously really keen to play the full role!

There will be some students also with a microphone speaking role and they were given a slip of paper yesterday that they can practise at home for the next few days if they like.  Please feel free to email me if you have any questions at all about the assembly performance on Friday.

Worm Wizz

As many of you will be coming to the assembly this week, just a little reminder that Worm Wizz is for sale at assembly, $5 for 4L. It's the best organic fertilizer money can buy.  All proceeds go to "Wheelchairs for Kids" to provide mobility for a child in a third world country.  This is a great part of our school sustainability program.

Sports Carnival

Congratulations on Leeuwin for being our overall winners and a mention to Naturaliste for being the best at cheering on their faction friends!  It was a great day and I loved seeing all of the special God moments including the Year 1 students showing such great sportsmanship and some overcoming initial nervous feelings to have a great day and having their best go.

There is also a special mention to these gorgeous 1K team members on their success and place winners for long jump and throws event that was held in the previous week during sports.  Another proud moment was when the ribbons and places were announced how everyone celebrated and cheered on their peers.

Open Classroom

Thank you for all of those parents who took some time to pop into our classroom after such a big day.  It was lovely hearing all of the comments that you shared with your child about their learning.  I'm sure your children also appreciated the time and positive feedback they received from you and your visit.  We are always busy little bees in 1K!

Thank you so much for your continued assistance and support,

Penny and Gemma
