Week 5 Term 4 2022

 Kaya Everyone, 

This week we will be halfway through the final term! We welcome Miss Amanda Friis this week to the team. Miss Friis is completing her 2nd year teaching practicum in our class and will be teaching some lessons over the next few weeks.


Merit Awards

Congratulations to Indi-Rose, Ammie and Cara who have received merit awards over the last fortnight. These students have been displaying a great attitude towards learning and applying themselves well to overcome difficulties in various learning areas in order to experience personal success. Well done!

 

Learning Intentions 

Spelling: We look at spelling words with the ‘g’ letter saying ‘j’ and 'c' making the 's' sound when these letters come before the vowels e, i and y.

Writing: We use adjectives in our narrative text to help the read imagine the setting.  

 

Mathematics: We look at how a number is made up of smaller numbers.   We can work flexibly with numbers to build our understanding of place value, addition and subtraction.

 

Character Strength: Creativity 

Being creative involves imagination, problem solving and being innovative. “All men and women are entrusted with the task of creating their own life. In a certain sense, they are to make it a work of art, a masterpiece.” Pope John Paul II. 

 

 

Vinnies Christmas Appeal 

It is that time of year again when we ask for donations to the annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Years 1-3 are asked to donate any of the following: Pasta sauces, meal kits, rice, biscuits, crackers, sauces, jams, condiments, (basically any non-perishable good food, which can be used beyond Christmas. Please, no baked beans or tinned vegetables 🙂). Thank you for your kindness and generosity in helping others this Christmas. 

 

Student Free Day 

This Friday 11th November will be a student free day due to the staff professional learning workshop. 


Calendar Art

Welcome to Year 1K for 2021

Hello and welcome to the 1K blog!  We hope you have all had a relaxing and peaceful holiday and enjoyed some of this beautiful summer weather!  We am looking forward to getting to know your beautiful children and working with you throughout your child's learning journey this year. Week 1 Term 4 2022

Kaya Everyone ,   We hope you have had an enjoyable holiday and are ready for the last term of this year. A lot is happening this term and the end will be here before we know it. We are so impressed with how much dedication the students have been putting into their work and how supportive they have been of one another.   Learning Intentions   Spelling: Review ‘oi’ as in coin and ‘oy’ as in boy.   Writing: Focusing on ad verbs in our writing and the purpose of them.     Mathematics: How to position numbers on an empty number line to help our calculations.   Star Citizen Congratulations to Tessa, who was our star citizen recipient on the last day for her consistent display of the school value of respect. Week 2 Term 4 2022

  Kaya Everyone ,   What a great start to Term 4, it has been wonderful to spend time with the children to hear about  what they did over the holidays. We look forward to more sunshine and have enjoyed watching the flowers bloom as we enter to Wadandi Noogar season of Kambarang.   Learning Intentions   Spelling: We introduce digraphs ‘ear’ (ear) and ‘ eer ’ (cheer).   Writing: We introd uce contractions this week.   Contractions are  a way to join together two words in order to make them shorter .     Mathematics: We look at measuring time by using calendars, learning the sequence order days of the week and months of the year.   Merit Award Winner Congratulations to Indi-Rose for being the first 1K member to recieve her award at our first school assembly for the year.
