Week 5 Term 4 2021
Dear Parents,
Here we go, finishing up the first half of Term 4 and going into our last weeks of Year 1.
Excursion
We are excited to go on our annual cultural excursion with the Year 1 students having the opportunity to learn about the deep connection the Wadandi people have to the Cape to Cape region. Josh from Koomal dreaming will take us on a Kaya tour around the lighthouse and teach us about the landscape through the eyes and knowledge of an indigenous custodian. We are looking forward to the experience and are hoping for two parent helpers from each class who are free for the day so please email me if you are (unfortunately we will only be able to accomodate two so first in...). We will be leaving school around 9.30 and returning about 12.00 next Tuesday 16th November.
Seesaw
Please make sure you have notifications set to appear on your Seesaw app so that you are aware of each update and get a great reminder to check out the small snippet of amazing work examples by your child. You are welcome to 'like' the post and comment too as is great feedback for both the child and teacher. This is a great way to share your child's learning and achievements throughout the year rather than just the end of semester reports. You will also note that the mathematics, writing and reading examples also include a form of judgement comment or coloured percentage indicator that also gives information for how your child is achieving in accordance to the Year One WA curriculum expectations.
Parent meetings
I am presently conducting follow up interviews as planned in previous parent meetings. If I have not contacted you then I don't see need for a meeting, however if you would like opportunity to meet then please see me or email and we can make a mutual time.
Merit certificate
Well done to Leo who received our class' merit award last fortnight for his amazing dedication to learning. We love your positive can-do spirit!
St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal
Each year OLC we take time to be thankful for our blessings and to assist those local people in need by contributing to Christmas Hampers distributed by the Society. This year boxes will be in the shared work areas of the school and families are invited to contribute specified items. Please send in items with your child and we will put in the boxes to support those in need during what can be a difficult time of the year.
Donations for Year 1, 2 and 3: Pasta sauces, meal kits, rice, biscuits, crackers, sauces, jams, condiments (basically any non-perishable food which can be used beyond Christmas. Please no baked beans or tinned vegetables). Thank you for helping to make someone's Christmas a little more special this year.
Penny and Gemma
