Week 7 Term 3 2022
Kaya,
I hope you enjoyed the extra-long OLC weekend – it was lovely to enjoy some sunshine with the family and catch up on some fun. The children had so much fun on the Book Week Dress Up day and we also celebrated the day learning about the winning book by the CBCB called the Walk of the Whales by Nick Bland.Learning Intentions Spelling: Review split digraphs with a ‘bossy e’. English: Attempt to include a closing statement restating opinion in a persuasive text. Mathematics: Identifying mental strategies to solve addition problems. For example: think big count on, friends of ten, doubles and doubles plus 1. Open Classroom Afternoon (Thursday 8th September) We apologise for the change of date to next Thursday for the Year 6 and Year 1 only. Next week after school, you will have an opportunity for the children to share their classwork with their families and celebrate their learning thus far in 2022. This is a good time to view your child’s work and discuss with them what they learned in each activity, what they found hard and what they found easy. We will have your child’s writing books, scrapbooks (all other learning areas combined), art and digi tech examples displayed in the classroom to view and chat about with your child. In Year 1 there is a lot of learning through hands-on activities, exploration, discussion and questioning which you are unable to see. If you can’t make it at this time, feel free to just pop in and have a look in your child’s tray any afternoon that you are available. School Photos Thursday 8th of September our school photos will take place. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing full winter uniform. Boys are required to wear trousers, grey socks and teal woolen jumper. Girls are required to wear pinafore, white shirt, stockings and teal woolen jumper. All students are to wear black shoes. As this is normally our sports day could you please bring your sports shoes in your child’s bag so as they can change into them after the photos? Family photos will be taken before school from 8am. Operation Christmas Shoe Box Your child should have brought home a letter last week about this special OLC project. On the letter is highlighted the age, gender and category of the child your child’s group will be making the shoe box for. Please bring in your little purchase, we will tick off your child’s name and next week start to put them together. Please don’t forget each child will have to bring in $2.50 to go toward the postage $ required to send the box overseas. Character Strength Zest – Energetic and enthusiastic, doesn’t do things half-heartedly, playful and throws themselves into tasks.
