Week 6/7 Term 4 2022
Kaya Everyone,
We hope you enjoyed the pupil free day on Friday and were able to spend some quality time together. Teachers used this day to revisit how to use effective assessments that align to the Western Australian curriculum and learning more about our SCSA Judging standards and achievement standards for each year level. This is the perfect time as we are spending time assessing the students over the next fortnight for reports.
Tomorrow is Crazy Sock Day! Children can wear any socks with their uniform - the crazier the better! Please contribute a gold coin donation tomorrow so we can "Sock it to Poverty" for Catholic Mission Australia.
Learning Intentions
Spelling: We look at the phoneme ‘dge’ as in bridge and ‘tch’ as in catch.
Writing: We use suspense words to create tension in our narrative texts.
Mathematics: We revisit 2D, and 3D shapes and revising time to half the hour.
St Vinent De Paul Christmas Appeal
Each year families from OLC take time to be thankful for our blessings and assist any local people in need this Christmas by contributing to Christmas Hampers. We are asking families to please donate to this wonderful cause to help those that are less fortunate. Donations can be any non-perishable food. Please bring your donation to the classroom.
Years 1-3 are asked to donate any of the following: Pasta sauces, meal kits, rice, biscuits, crackers, sauces, jams, condiments, (basically any non-perishable good food, which can be used beyond Christmas. Please, no baked beans or tinned vegetables 🙂). Thank you for your kindness and generosity in helping others this Christmas.
Star Citizen Congratulations to Oscar who received this term's star citizen award for excellence. You strive to do your best in all you do and celebrate others achievements with sincerity. Your dedication to learning is admirable, Oscar!
Before School Supervision
I ask that you do not drop your child off early at school and allow them to play on the pre-primary playground without you there to supervise. No duty of care is provided in the playground before school and I have observed some quite unsafe behaviours on the equipment and large numbers of unsupervised pp, year 1 and 2 students playing on the equipment when opening the doors at 8.30 over the last couple of weeks. Year 1 students know that they are not allowed to play there without their parents close by watching. I have told the students if the arrive early they are to wait under the verandah area outside their classroom or on the bench seating in the courtyard near the office until doors open. I appreciate your help to ensure we are keeping our kids safe at all times at school.
Reporting - I am currently working on finalising my comments and report grades ready for the end of semester. By the end of next week, you should have also all your child's term seesaw learning samples from this semester for different learning areas. If your child will be receiving a D grade overall or currently follows an Individual Adjustment Plan in either Maths or English, I will make contact with you via email.
