Year 1K OLC

Dear parents, I hope you all enjoyed the extra long OLC weekend - it was a lovely break and gave us all time to recuperate after a big week including the sports carnival and open classrooms afternoon. Assembly This Friday is the big one! Our grand performance!  The assembly will start at 2.10pm but if any parents could pop in just before at about 1.45 straight after lunch to help us get dressed that would be wonderful.  Please send your child's costume to school in a clearly marked plastic bag/swimming bag so we can get changed into it straight after lunch.  Students will need to wear their normal sports uniform for the first part of the day.  I can't wait to see them all dressed up as their dads.  It was interesting to hear what clothes they wanted to wear and many were very keen to adorn some facial hair.  A few were a bit worried what they would do if their dad was bald or thinning - obviously really keen to play the full role!   There will be ...

Dear Parents,  Just a few bits of information for tomorrow and next week:  Athletics Carnival Tomorrow is our annual athletics carnival, kicking off around 9.15. You will have received an email from admin with the schedule for the day.  Please also read below other information sent from admin earlier this morning in regards to the day.  I also asked the students to have a bit of a clean out of their school bags this evening as we take them down to the oval for the day to hold their jumpers, lunchboxes and water bottles - and clearly name everything especially food containers, jumpers and hats!   Dear Parents,  Well here we are halfway through Term Three - time flies when you are having fun!  SEESAW  - This is a form of formal reporting that we are implementing over this semester to give you insight to your child's achievement more regularly rather than only the formal report that you will receive at the end of the year.   We now have nearly all families sign up and access their child's journal. Dear Parents,  Well here we go into Week 4! I hope you all had a relaxing weekend and managed to get out and about between the clouds and showers or just enjoyed some time at home with friends or family.  In 1K, we have a tradition to give each weekend a rating from 1-10 each Monday in class to and it is always so interesting to hear the individuality of each child's rating and their reasoning why! SEESAW - As per the information sent home a couple of weeks ago in an email from administration, we are now using the Seesaw platform school-wide to use to show you some of the activities that we are completing in class as well as providing insight and feedback to your child and yourselves about how they are going.   Good evening families, Welcome back to Term 3! I hope you have all had a beautiful mid-year break and managed to get out and about but also rest after a hectic Term 2. I appreciate all your ongoing support in busy times so thank you once again for being so great last term.   Welcome back this week to those who were lucky enough to have an extended break up north enjoying that extra sunshine. A warm welcome to Zen and the Honeybone family to OLC who joined our class in the last week of last term.  Zen, you have settled in so well and we are so lucky to have you in our 1K team.  A look into what we will be learning for the first half of this term: Literacy:  We are focusing on persuasive texts which is a new type of writing for us this year! This is a piece of writing that will explain our readers and opinion about a topic and we will use reasons with explanations and details to try to convince our readers to feel, think and agree the same belief as us....

Dear Parents, Firstly thank you so much for the cards and presents I received for my birthday. Gemma and the kids had a lot of fun decorating the room for my return with glitter and box construction gifts too to celebrate four decades.  I am very lucky and blessed! I would like to say I'm now older and wiser but we will see.. Well it is Week 10 finishing up today and here we are on the home stretch - one glorious week left of learning and together time before a well-deserved break! Learning and Curriculum Boy oh boy are we proud of this 1K team!  In just one semester the students have really worked hard in their academic pursuits learning to decode tricky words, read with growing fluency, write sentences and even paragraphs for narrative, recount and information reports and spell so many words including new digraphs, trigraphs and a lot of tricky words along the way.  We have learnt about our biological and physical world in science, the elements of line, shape, texture a...

Dear Parents,  I hope you had a lovely weekend enjoying the beautiful winter weather! A bit of sunshine was a great way to enjoy celebrating a birthday milestone with my friends and family! Only a few weeks to go and what a term we have had so far! I'm so impressed with the incredible personal growth the students have had personally and academically over the last six months.   Cross Country 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Just a reminder that Cross Country is taking place this Thursday 17th of June. Students are to wear their faction shirt and are encouraged to wear zinc and bring teddies. We will make our way down to the oval at 9 am for a 9:15am start, however we will be the second year group running the cross country as it will begin with Year 3's, then Year 1's and then Year 2's, etc. Providing the weather stays good, we will stay out to watch some of the other races.
